Born 1947 have been painting in oils since the age of 13. Early influences are L B Elliott, Dino Paravano, W G Wiles, Errol Boyley and the now late David Shepherd whom I had the pleasure of meeting earlier this year. Light has always driven my painting far more than the subject itself. These great mentors certainly were masters of understanding light. Africa is not only beautiful because of the harsh dry light but also because of the huge variety of countryside and coastline that we have at our disposal, let alone the animals and human cultures to be explored. So we, as artists live in a veritable paradise.
Commissions form a large part of my work and I present painting workshops across the country and Zimbabwe. This keeps me on my toes and I learn than anyone else. I feel incredibly privileged.
